Indie-folkie Jacob Brodovsky presents his 'Past Mistakes', new album out July 10

Will McGuirk March 12, 2026

By Will McGuirk

While he’s doesn’t have the same lyrical vocabulary of John K Samson there is something of the Weakerthans’ lead in the tracks of Jacob Brodovsky, an indie-folk songwriter, based in Treaty 1 Territory. Brodovsky also has that downey landing of Bahamas’s songs and he has an album ‘Tell The Kids We Tried’ due July 10 2026. ‘Past Mistakes’ is kinda broody and kinda sad and plaintive and appealing in the pleas, for every act of creativity is an act of hope. Add in a hopeful helpful crew around him which includes Charlotte Cornfield, Gavin Gardiner and Champagne James Robinson of MOONRIIVR, (who also produced), and Christine Fellows who directed the video for the latest single ‘Past Mistakes’, and I’m feeling Manitoba, cocooning in community, building for whatever lies beyond the moat of grasses, in the folds of the horizon.
