10 years of 'Secret Path' marked with special concert Oct 23 at Concert Hall

Will McGuirk October 21, 2026

By Will McGuirk

I had the absolute honour of attending the performance of ‘Secret Path’ at Roy Thompson Hall. When the lights came on there was not a dry eye in the house. Listening to these songs again on this new video compilation of Indigenous artists covering those songs all those feelings return. My eyes well. Its been ten years since the whole project; album, film, book, shows and advocacy. Ten years on a path that Gord Downie said would take 150.

On Friday Oct 23 2026 The Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund is hosting a Secret Path 10th Anniversary Concert to commemorate the impact that Gord Downie’s project has had on moving reconciliation forward, and in honouring Chanie’s legacy

The show will be held at The Concert Hall in Toronto, and include performances from Indigenous artists such as Amanda Rheaume, Aysanabee, Drives the Common Man, Julian Taylor, Natasha Fisher, Nimkii and the Niniis, Thea May, Tom Wilson & Thompson Wilson, William Prince, and Wolf Saga. Artists will perform songs from 'Secret Path', their own original music, and covers of Tragically Hip songs.

I have included a link to the documentary on the making of the original project below.
