William Prince releases ‘For the First Time’, new album out Oct 17

Will McGuirk September 3, 2025

By William McGuirk

Country singer/songwriter William Prince’s new single is a road song, the road from grief to acceptance, the road ‘from Indiana to San Francisco’, one step at a time, the road from dream to the stars. Prince has a brooding thoughtful way about him, I met him once, chatted Scott Nolan, a mentor of his in Winnipeg, and one of the many many unsung songwriters everywhere. Anyway the road is always about hope, and ‘For the First Time’ is too. There’s something of Sturgill Simpson to it all, in the swells of the strings too, and the pounding drive of the piano. This road goes up and out ‘from Peguis First Nation to the Milky Way’. A worthy companion to your own journey.
