OK so Julie Doiron is an absolute low key legend and Status/Non-Status led by Anishinaabe musician and artist Adam Sturgeon have been on the radar for sometime, I had booked his former band WHOOP-Szo into Oshawa, so great to see this collab. But sometimes its the PR that gets one and while happy to share, I share because at the core of this song, a reminder to those feeling lost, at the core in the PR about a new album, ‘Big Changes’ because yes a new album comes out Mar 6 2026 on You’ve Changed Records, anyway there’s this:
“Last month, Status/Non-Status announced their new album, Big Changes, a record about survival, but also about making connections in order to endure. It is the big noise we make together when the world feels like it’s falling apart, and the harmony that comes when we keep time with one another. At its core, Big Changes is an act of community-building. Though its songs focus on reckoning, reflection, and resistance, the album derives its strength from the people who contributed to its creation.”
But its the line “a record about survival, but also about making connections in order to endure” because thats a value we have here at slowcity not just a value, a core value. We are nothing without each other and as the world worsens we need each other more so this is not just a song but a sign post. Go that way folks, please. “Big Changes is an act of community-building.”
