The artist as city builder - Luminato as urban planning

Will McGuirk July 5, 2016

SlowCity.ca came across this piece on Luminato and The Hearn Building at Huffington Post online. Its an interesting discussion between urbanists RIchard and Rana Florida and Luminato artistic director Jorn Weisbrodt.

"Start small"

Arts and culture aren't just features of great cities--amenities that make them nice places to visit. They are city builders, author and urbanist, Richard Florida has long argued. They are powerful drivers that move cities forward economically and globally. Nobody knows this like Jörn Weisbrodt, the artistic director of Toronto's Luminato Festival.
