Julian Taylor Band, Kalle Mattson, Andy Shauf’s Foxwarren, Wintersleep, The Unfaithful Servants, Ponytails, Once A Tree, Hot Chip and Mauno.

A song inspired by death, remorse, redemption, and unconditional love. Life is made of two things; moments and the memories that they leave behind. This is the title track to the album because when I began working on this record my life was in turmoil.

Whatever gets you through the night as Johnny Lennon says or the day or the year, whatever gets you to celebrating another trip around the sun, thats whatever it took to get you here and you are here and I am here and that is enough of a reason to play some songs and enjoy the day which happens to be the anniversary of my birth. And considering its been a year since the last, well, it didn’t seem to take too long. Thanks to Ponytails, Oh Susanna, Jessica Rhaye & the Ramshackle Parade (covering Bob Dylan for his birthday), Jordan Klassen, Geneviève Racette, Black Mountain, Sigala & Becky Hill and Colour Tongues for the tracks. Cheers to you whenever your birthday is.

Originally released in 1999, Johnstown is considered a contemporary folk-noir masterpiece brimming with ghostly songs of melancholic beauty and menace. Oh Susanna's voice evokes a cinematic narration to simultaneously warm the heart and chill the blood.   Her critically acclaimed, debut full-length album  was remastered and released on vinyl for Record Store Day, limited to 500 hand numbered copies.

It just takes one sunny sunny day to dispel all the winter grumpiness, doesn’t it. So here we are at that wonderful time between frost and flies. Take advantage and get outside as you much as you can.

Its been some time, five years, since Leela Gilday issued an album but her new album, ‘North Star Calling’ is coming out this year and the single “K’eintah Natse Ju” has just been released.

In a press release Gilday says the track is “about the legacy of colonization and its impact on our (Indigenous) family relationships- part of what happened in residential school was the dismantling of the Indigenous family structure. This was intentional- if you take away children from their families you deprive them of the love and cultural traditional values that growing up in a loving home gives to them. This song is about some of those relationships. Part of this was inspired by the tragic deaths of Colton Boushie and Tina Fontaine." Leela will be at Hugh’s Room in Toronto May 10.

Del Barber invited CKUA to Edmonton's Audio Department for a look behind-the-scenes of the recording of his new record, 'Easy Keeper'. One of the band's favourite tunes from the new record is 'Louise.' "It's about a neighbour I have a bit of a crush on, she's got a couple of replaced knees," Del told CKUA.
