It’s a positive message for sure, ‘Celebrate Another Day of Living’ the title of the debut album from Oshawa’s indie rockers Mary & Adelaide.
M&A are a four piece but can expand to five live and have a fair few successful gigs under the string that passes for a belt including the inaugural Whitby Music Festival alongside K-Os and Chastity.
Anyway the album doesn’t overstay its welcome, its 8 tracks ranging from under two mins to just over 3. Thats Ramones length territory but unlike the legendary punks, M&A don’t speed it up - its just they can distill the thought into conciseness, the result of being of Instagram generation maybe.
And the thought; well ‘Hannah Pt 1 & 2’ is a shoegaze-y noise rock ballad. There’s Barenaked Ladies hooks on ‘You Pulled Up’ , and some Weezer vibe-ing on ‘All The Times’ and ‘Junk’, as well as ‘Collared’. It all comes together on ‘U.S.A.’, a wistful gang vox with some Broken Social Scene hugs and Arcade Fire nostalgia. Good stuff.
Main singer/songwriter is my son just an FY so of course I am very proud but I have honestly had this album in the record shop I work at three four times a day since it dropped January 16 2026 and I have yet to tire of it. Thats a good thing I think. So yah listen and tell me I’m wrong. I somehow doubt it.
