Mars Bonfire, who most famously wrote the classic road rock anthem ‘Born To Be Wild’, and his brother the late Jerry Edmonton, a member of Steppenwolf, are the latest recipients of the Oshawa Walk of Fame award. Mars and Jerry were born as Dennis and Gerald McCrohan respectively in Oshawa and lived there before moving to the USA in pursuit of their rock ‘n’ roll dream. The 2026 Gala Dinner & Induction Ceremony takes place on Thursday, November 5, 2026, organized by the Rotary Club of Oshawa, at the Jubilee Pavilion, the club their father Owen McCrohan operated for several decades.
