Deep Dark Woods has a new album out now ‘The Circle Remains’ on Victory Records, there’s a new track plus video out too, ‘Can’t Keep From Singing’ and I’m ok with that from Ryan Boldt the voice behind Deep Dark Woods, or in front of it is probably a better take. I came to DDW at that special time in Canadian music when indie acts came to the fore - with Broken Social Scene, Arcade Fire, Metric opening ears and airwaves for others like The Organ, Cuff The Duke, Great Lake Swimmers, Final Fantasy, Leeroy Stagger - the fab CBC3 era, whats that like over two decades ago now. Oh if only the kids of today could get retro on that time and hear them and get all these folks back on the road, all those folks who can’t keep from singing. Lots of people seem to find their scene, their sound when they were 14, I found mine when I was 40!! Anyway welcome back to my ears DDW.
