Dan Mangan has a new single out, ‘Diminishing Returns’, from his upcoming album, ‘Natural Light’ - not much of a departure from his heart on his sleeve emo-folk but maybe a deeper lean into all of that. Its small and intimate and burrowing but not bunkering, a genuine openess, almost a conversation between friends. Lovely stuff. Mangan who has some D-rock roots in Cannington has a tour obv and is making a stop in TO at the Danforth Music Hall. There’s never much distance between Dan and his fans but this one feels even closer. PR says Campfire songs for a world on fire and there’s a truth to that like Linda Ronstadt’s ‘Long Long Time’ in Last of Us.
