Cold Specks: from Somalia to Canada and a Fool's Paradise

Will McGuirk September 16, 2017

TO's Soul Sister of Doom traverses a Fool's Paradise on her latest album, exploring her past in Somalia and present in Canada. Aka Ladan Hussein's record is the first one on which she uses her real name and delves into and celebrates her heritage. The record is streaming and its a trip and a hop but not both - more Seal and Soul2Soul than Tricky and Portishead with room for more than just doom. The veil of gloom has been lifted in this Fool's Paradise and seeing is clearer now. The disc is on Arts 'n Crafts Sep 22.
