Visual Arts Centre of Clarington Juried show opens Oct 14

Will McGuirk October 8, 2018

Along with the seasonal studio tours, juried shows are a good way to gauge the voices of Durham Region artists, what are they working on, what are they saying, what are they seeing and what are they showing?

The VAC’s 38th Annual Juried Show opens Oct. 14 and runs to Nov. 11, 2018. Sonya Jones, Curator of Collections at the The Robert McLaughlin Gallery, is this year’s juror. Four awards will be handed out, First Place - The Best in Show Mayor’s Award, Second Place Award, Third Place Award and the People’s Choice Award sponsored by Tucker’s Pottery Supplies Inc.

In keeping with this long standing tradition, the VAC proudly hosts the 38th Annual Juried Show. Four prizes will be handed out this year, three of which will be selected by the juror and announced at the exhibition opening, and a People’s Choice Award, which will be voted on by the public and announced at the end of the exhibition. This year’s prizes will reflect on the best works in the exhibition regardless of medium, subject matter or size. The award categories are as follows:
