Saturday Aug 12 Francis Muscat is having a half price sale of some of his older works, seconds, and other interesting work at the Second Wedge Brewery in Uxbridge. The sale runs 10 am - 4 pm. Francis is also the featured artist at Meta4 Contemporary Gallery in Port Perry for the month of August.

Geordie Lishman unveiled his most recent commission at the Lions Club Park in Newmarket. Its a lion in the manner of Geordie's wolf (which was on display at his solo show at the RMG). The public sculpture is part of a project by Lishman the Elder aka Bill.

As mentioned in last week's letter Slowcity.ca is planning to stretch beyond the digital into the physical. A Slow City Folk Club is in the works and we are also re-entering the world of print. If you are “comic-con” fan and interested in contributing or know someone who is let us know. We are seeking writers of Fan Expo style fiction and illustrators for the project.

Photographer Leif Petersen is having a solo exhibit at the Kent Farndale Gallery in Port Perry opening Aug. 26. It runs to Sept. 28, 2017. Leif is a real interesting chap with a great eye and I have worked with him in the past. It’s sometime away yet but mark it in your calendar.

Dani Crosby is seeking subjects for a series of portraits for an art project which will be exhibited at the Robert McLaughlin Gallery in 2019. Dani has set up a website where willing participants can share their own stories. The portraits will be based on the stories, in the manner of Dani's own stunning self-portrait which was shown as part of Durham Reach.

Mike and Betty McGowan will be exhibiting as part of FIXATE, presented by RAW: Toronto. Over 60 artists, fashion designers and musicians will be taking part at the event at the Mod Club Aug 17 and 18.

Annemarie Greenwood: Six mixed media works on display at Rawlicious restaurant, 120 Dundas St. W., Whitby.

Saturday Sep 9 Mary Walsh (This Hour Has 22 Minutes) will be at the Uxbridge Music Hall. Terry Fallis will be interviewing Walsh about her novel “Crying for the Moon”. This is a Blue Heron presentation as part of the Uxbridge Celebration of the Arts.

Sunday Oct 22 L M Montgomery as influence will be the subject of an all-star panel of authors at Wooden Sticks Golf Club. This is a Blue Heron Books presentation.
