In 1985 I met Mike Star for the first time. His shop in Oshawa was a haven for me. I began buying indie Canadian artists there such as 54:40, the Rheostatics, Jr Gone Wild and many many others. I began writing about the shows he promoted at his Star Club. That was my start in rock 'n roll writing. Through his shop I met many of the creative people I still call friends, people I have known for three decades. Mike passed away Sep 11 2015. The Star ran a story I wrote up about Mike and his legacy.
