Matt Gunn, Wooly @ RMGFF Oct 5 - Photography by Mirjana Simeunovich

Uxbridge-based musician Matt Gunn performed at the RMG, showcasing tunes from his new album. His latest is titled ‘Staring at Nothing” but its a whole lot of something. Matt had a launch party at Second Wedge Brewery but also played a pre-launch at Blue Heron Books. His vibe oscillates between So-Cal ska rock and urbane pop punk of Ron Hawkins (“Dust”) and edges into Elvis Costello country. He is joined on the album by Sarah Fazakerley, Leah Daniels and Robin Ottolini.

Wooly from Whitby have a softness to their sound, in local terms we could put them in with Dizzy, Daniel Caesar and HIGHS. It looks inwards, its introspective, insulating, the sound of a tribe building. They also played RMG FF. Hopefully we will hear more from these very interesting kats.
